2020 Dodge RAM 3500 Trucks spokesman Edward Rowe confirmed the updated pick-ups will replace the current 2500/3500 by 2020.
While three engine options will be available in the US, Mr Rowe confirmed the Australian market will only get the top-spec 6.7-liter Cummins turbo-diesel in-line six, producing 298kW at 2800rpm and 1356Nm from 1800rpm.
It is equivalent to a 13kW / 95Nm output hike over its predecessor, but the new engine is also 27kg lighter thanks to new pistons as well as a reworked cylinder head and exhaust manifold.
Amazingly, 2020 Dodge RAM 3500 claims that the range-topping Heavy Duty 2500/3500 has a 15, 921kg towing capacity and a 3484kg payload capacity.
The diesel powertrains are equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission, while petrol ‘Hemi’ benefits from an eight-speed self-shifter.
‘Frequency response damping’ shocks have been fitted to every corner of the RAM models, with standard five-link coils for 2020 Dodge RAM 3500 and leaf springs for 3500. Air suspension will also be available as an option.
While the brake specifications are yet to be confirmed, RAM trucks say it has upgraded calibers, brake booster and master cylinder.
Throwing 65kg in total weight, the RAM 2500/3500 has undergone some tweaks to improve noise, vibration and hardness (NVH).
On the inside, vehicles can benefit from a new dashboard, a 7.0-inch multi-information screen, push-button start, active noise cancellation and a new climate control system. A rear camera is standard, displayed on either a 12.0, 8.4 or 5.0-inch screen.
For your safety, 2020 Dodge RAM 3500 Trucks has fitted automatic emergency braking (AEB), a surround-view monitor, tire pressure monitoring and a Cargo-View camera.
